The Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH is an International cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. GTZ promotes complex reforms and change processes. Its corporate objective is to improve people's living conditions on a sustainable basis. GTZ has been working in Indonesia since 1975 on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)

The Program Local and Regional Economic Development (RED) aims at improving the employment situation and enhancing the competitiveness of Solo in Central Java. The program combines various aspects of local economic development such as regional management, regional marketing, inter-district cooperation and coherent strategies, a conducive business environment, private sector services and transfer of best practices from regional to province and national level.

Requested Expertise

The Indonesian expert should have expertise in:

* Marketing in general and practical experience in marketing places
* Knowledge and expertise on tourism, trade and investment


Professional background:

* Master Degree in economic study, marketing, communication or public relations
* At least five years of practical experience in the above mentioned expertise


Other skills:
Project planning, implementation and monitoring skills
Problem analysis and problem solution skills
Dealing with stakeholders from a broad range of backgrounds
Being familiar with the project region Central Java (is an advantage)
Good communication in English (both in spoken and written)


Tasks

the tasks of the assigned expert are:

Identifying potential and opportunities for cooperation among the relevant stakeholders
Develop concept for regional marketing
Implement the concept of regional marketing in collaboration with partners.
Establish network with relevant partners in selected sectors on national/international level.
Conduct impact monitoring and evaluation
Provide relevant inputs for RED publications and internal reports.
Support the recruitment and steering short terms expert/s.
Conduct knowledge transfer to local partners.

Time Frame

The expert will start in October 2008. The assignment will be completed by March 2009 with a possibility for extension.
The expert will be based in Solo Raya. Extensive travel may be necessary.
